Geeky Puffins get their knit on for a palooza of a time!
Knitting and spinning retreat travels to Farnham for second year
London, UK (3 June, 2016) – C.C. and Dami Almon of Geeky Girls Knit and Sam Boggia of Knit Run Dig have teamed up again for the Geeky Puffin Knit Palooza – an intimate knitting and spinning retreat featuring workshops, social activities and a marketplace. The retreat takes place in Farnham, UK from 10th to 13th November.
“Last year we hosted the retreat in Edinburgh,” said Sam Boggia, co-organiser of the Geeky Puffin Knit Palooza. “We had a lot of folks in the southern part of the country tell us they’d like a turn at attending so this time are pleased to be brining the retreat to Farnham.”
“Our venue in Farnham is amazing,” added C.C. Almon, co-organiser of the retreat. “The Mercure Farnham Bush Hotel is a restored 17th century inn that gives the feeling of a secluded country retreat, but with all the modcons.” A special rate has been secured for retreat participants wishing to stay at the hotel. Participants can also choose to make their own accommodation arrangements off-site.
Confirmed workshop teachers are a mix of UK and US talent. They include Joeli Caparco of Joeli Creates, Louise Tilbrook of Louise Tilbrook Designs, Rachel Brown of Porpoise Fur and US-based handmade business marketing maven, Tara Swiger. Two classes are included in the retreat fee of with participants having the option of paying for an additional class.
Social activities for the retreat include a marketplace on Saturday, November 12. The marketplace, featuring over a dozen handmade makers and yarn and fibre vendors from around the UK, is also open to public. A knit-a-long leading up to the November weekend has also commenced with teams vying for points and prizes to be handed out at the retreat.
Newly added to the weekend line-up is a mini yarn crawl to London custom-tailored to the participants by Yarn in the City. Yarn in the City are the organisers of the annual Great London Yarn Crawl. The mini yarn crawl takes place on Saturday afternoon to ensure that participants don’t miss out on the marketplace.
