So I finished my Hitchhiker by Martina Behm and I am so thrilled with the results!
I thought I would give you a quick review of the pattern here too, as I definitely recommend this for an easy knit...
The pattern it's self is only a few pages long... there really isn't too much to take on board in terms of difficulty. There are a few rows you need to remember so that you keep to the correct increases and teeth width across rows.
The pattern is well written and I do believe a beginner could master it quickly, giving you chance to really let your yarn do the talking. I chose a bright colour block skein from my collection, but you could easily use a variegated, semi solid, speckle or striping yarn. In all of these cases you may need to consider pooling, but for the most part the simple increasing shape allows the yarn to shine.
I knit my sample in my Superwash 4ply yarn, however I do believe you could make the same shawl in heavier weights... perfect for throw on winter scarves.
This pattern would make a great 'holiday', or 'take along' project too... the garter stitch avoids creasing in your project bag and the simple nature of the design means you can chat, or watch the world go by without needing to take the written pattern with you.
I totally recommend this yarn and plan to knit more in the future!
So what is next for me on the craft along? Well I have a few more patterns in hand and I am sampling new colours as we speak, so keep an eye on the blog!
Catch up on the craft along so far... Here.
Have a wonderful day... Sara x
