So this is me working away on my first top down improvised design sweater... I thought it might be quite nice to share my journey.
So why design my own sweater when there are so many great patterns out there? Well I guess there are two reasons; firstly and the mostly simply... I am useless at following patterns... I read most of it and then decide I'm going to modify... so my own design really is the way forward.
Secondly... after the success of the Gilet court d'été by Marie Adeline Boyer (which I must have knit like 5 times now), I have realised that I like top down styles with little pattern for every day basics. So I invested in Ann Budd's book Knitters Handy Book of Top Down Sweaters, which is full of information on helping me achieve my own basic pattern.
Now I have learned to knit socks with Ann's books and support, I am feeling more confident in trying something larger.
Pop back and I will promise to update you!
Have a wonderful day... Sara x
