Welcome to this month's theme... Working Bites; easy food to prepare while you work.
While exploring the craft stall topic last month, during our craft business month I talked a bit about eating properly while you are away working... this seemed at the time like a much bigger topic and something that affects all of independent artists and businesses, regardless of how big or small you are. So here I am revisiting it.
When we get busy food is often the first thing to forget... instead we opt for convenience, or 'going without' purely to crack on with the work at hand (our crafts). This is never a good thing and something I have learned to pay more attention too.
To that end I thought I should start out conversation by exploring my favourite food inspirations;
Books - There are many books on my shelves and some of my favourite authors who inspire me the most include; Hugh Fernly Whittingstall (creator and face of River Cottage and all about clean home grown food), The Hairy Bikers (formerly BBC behind-the-scenes folk often on location), Jamie Oliver (recently known for his '15 minute meals') and Nigel Slater (food writer known for simple, comforting food). If you know these food authors then you can sense my theme here is all about simple, clean and easy.
Whoever your favourite authors are, books are a wonderful and instant source of inspiration... Here is some more inspiration for you over on Amazon*.
Blogs - You know I love the BlogLovin' app on my phone... well I follow a few foodie blogs over there and these are great resources to inspire you. My favourites are; Joy the Baker and Rachel Khoo, both have books/podcasts/TV shows out.
Pinterest - There are lots of great recipes on Pinterest... here are some of my favourite pins for working bites so far. There is so much choice that you could find something different for every meal of the day/week/year!
Local Food Markets - Locally to me I have several food markets either weekly, or monthly to choose from and so finding locally sourced produce is never a hard thing. As a relatively laid back foodie, with little time on my hands this source of produce is seasonally informative and therefore ever changing... making choices easier.
Over the next month I hope to explore some more food inspirations, storage and quick recipe ideas... I'd love you to join me and start the conversation.
What inspires your food choices?
Have a wonderful day... Sara x
