I really wanted to give this yarn a review for the blog, not only because it's fresh in my mind having just finished the Gillet pictured below, but also because it's from a local source; John Arbon Textiles.
Details: Hayward yarn is a subtle new double knit marl range. There are 4 hedgerow inspired colours as an ode to the Exmoor landscape where the mill is situated.
Price: £10 per 100g
Composition: 100% Merino
250 meters per 100 gram hank
24 stitches and 31 rows = 4"
3-4 mm needles
I purchased 3 skeins of 'Nettle' for my cardi. This as all of the colours was made up of 3 plies... each varying in shade. The result gives this wonderful marl effect.
The yarn was wonderful to work with and gave good stitch definition. There is enough twist in the yarn so that it is sturdy and doesn't split if knitting at a tighter gauge. It also holds shape quiet nicely too, which is perfect for garment knitting.
The merino is soft and warm, but not too warm I couldn't wear the cardi in Spring or Autumn... I'm beyond happy with how this came out.
I recommend this yarn!
