... or at least that's the plan!
If I look back over my past posts from as early as 2007, I can see clear points where I tried a new look, or a new tact for the blog... I guess like any other blog, this one has grown of it's own accord, sometimes taking me in new directions and opening new opportunities to me. Apart from my own business which has grown quiet a bit, my blog has seen me write for other publications and e-zines, as well as launch into book and product reviews. So in a few years I have achieved quite a lot... although lately this feels as if it has been over shadowed by an ever increasing workload in my day job and I have found myself endlessly discussing work, or just posting an odd picture or two and forgetting what I really wanted to start blogging for.
It feels like it is now time to refocus, to get back to what I want this blog to be... an escape from the work, work, work side of my crafting... you know the endless production and advertising. It is not that that stuff is any less important, but I do feel I can cover most of that in my monthly podcast. As I cross post it here anyway, it seems like I could just do a 'copy and paste' job and save you the pain of duplicating visual and readable content through out the month. So gone are the shop update posts (Facebook and Twitter feeds are best for the day to day HQ updates) and instead come more behind the scenes musings, creation and production of the HQ... something I hope might get you to ask more questions about techniques and how the business works.
To replace a lot of the white space left I want to be more inspirational when I post... not just for you the reader, but to get my creative juices flowing again. After all the concept of a blog is to be my own life's journal. So I'm planning to seek out more craft trends and discuss them, also to visit more shows and exhibitions. I also want to be more proactive about talking you through my works in progress (WIPs)... my projects. Some of these will ultimately be samples for the shop, or for a tutorial I plan to write, but I think the idea of talking through my progress of these will help you to understand my journey from idea to creation. That is a concept I don't really cover here.
Now of course with all of this planned, I am acutely aware that business is much busier now and so the time spent on the new blog concepts may not be as frequent as daily posting... but I hope that content (being 'king', as they say) will be the way forward and with refocus we all get more of a blog we want to read.
I hope you will join me on this journey and pop back now and again. If you want to receive post alerts you can sign up on the right, or pop to the bottom of the screen to find my Bloglovin link... a fab blog reading tool and phone app!
Until next time... keep crafting and I shall be swatching ideas for content.
