Customer's Work: Cool Dread Falls!

How wonderful are these Dread Falls?
I know!! They are fab aren't they? Well they are made by one of my wonderful Etsy customers.

Meg from http://deadneonflies.etsy.com/ aka Brain Fuzz, has used a few of my Merino blends to create these luscious locks... above is Meadow and below is Sunset.

Meg explains a bit more about her work...

It used to be just something to keep my hands busy while coming down and twitching myself into a numb-like hysteria, but alas I came full circle and here I am. I remove the porcelain mask and reveal a little bit about myself and expose to you the colorful or colorless threads wrapped between my fingers and between my ears. This is nothing extraordinary or stellar or out worldly. It is the bits and pieces my psyche drops here and there when it can find a moment in time to finally just stop bleeding and sit still. I am a poet. I am an artist. I am the broken heart inside the palms of your clammy hands. I am the spiders your feet shadow when attempting to run away.

welcome to my corner of the dank, lint infested world.
Do pop over to Etsy and check out her work... really great colour and texture and very reasonably priced too.

Merry Go Around: Summer.

It's that time again and today's question is well more of a theme... 'Summer'.

I love the look of Summer but unfortunately spend a good deal of time hiding from it... I can suffer terribly easily with sun stroke and heat exhaustion. So you'll often see me under a large hat, a little bigger than the one I'm sporting in the photo and often with an iced drink (or ice cubes wrapped in a flannel attached to my head somehow! Honestly the things you will try!!)

I've always been like that, even as a child I was the first one to cover up and leave the pool on holiday... I fair much better in the Spring or Autumn. I try never to let that stop me though and take as much time out as I can afford, as often this is the more quiet part of the year. This year that hasn't really been the case, I found myself working a couple of fibre shows and trying new things with the business, but as you can see D and I did manage an afternoon at Lyme Regus this week... shortly after I picked up my very first spinning wheel! So it's not all that bad!!

It's a bank holiday weekend here from tomorrow, so 3 days off... yay! Where else can I go?! Quick D, get that map out!!

How's the Garden?

Not too bad, thank you!

In fact, growing really quite well... I have 3 foot marigolds that were competing for light with my broccoli! And I have a 4 and a half foot tomatoe plant, covered in baby tomatoes... who'd have thought a bit of horse poo and some sun would make such a difference!

I've just made my first batch of pickled beetroot, using this recipe I found on line... http://www.grouprecipes.com/16631/pickled-beetroot.html and I've eaten my first lot of broccoli... so as we speak I'm cracking on with my pointed cabbage on the left. Oh and I've eaten all the lettuce too... well those I wrestled from the slugs!!

How could I not create a Dawanda Deli too?!

I know that would have been silly, right?

Well don't worry, my DaWanda fibre deli is now up and running too! So I'm ready and waiting for those of you who prefer to pay in Euros... http://dawanda.com/shop/sarastexturecrafts

I've switched the website!

Don't worry it's all been automatic, so http://www.sarastexturecrafts.com/ bookmarks should work just the same... but yes, I have switched my provider. I'm hoping with the new service to have an eshop, meaning those of you who'd rather buy direct can always find what you are looking for. Once it's up and running it will also carry my full range, leaving my other shops as fibre deli, drop in centres for those quick purchases!

I'll let you know when the shop is up and running...
