My personal piece for the International Day of Felt

Excuse how windswept I look, it was quite cold back on October 3rd... the International Day of Felt. I just wanted to show you my personal Day of Felt piece... the butterfly.

The butterfly can be worn as both a brooch or a hair pin.

My orginal idea was to make something based on nature, so I tunred to one of the textile books I love the most...

Title: The Art of Annemieke Mein, Wildlife Artist and Textiles
Published by Search press
Year: 2001
ISBN: 0-85532-977-7
RRP: £15.00/ $30 US Dollars

I love Annemeike's work, it's so inspirational and accurate. Her stitch detail is as beautiful as her drawings and I always find something else to be awestruck by each time I pick it up.

These pictures are from the same book. Below is my felted butterfly... not technically accurate, bold and colourful none the less.
